Charlottesville 4 miler
Blue Ridge Bread sponsors the largest womens race in Virginia, the Charlottesville 4 miler (http://www.dominiondigital.com/womens4miler/). This race raises money and awareness for Breast Cancer. Not only do we donate bagels for the Saturday training days but over 3,000 bagels the day of the race. We are so proud to be a large part of this wonderful Charlottesville tradition. Panera Pink Parade
Panera Bread and Valley View Mall partnered with Carilion Clinic’s Breast Care Center to host the Positively Pink Parade to benefit the Every Women’s Life Program Carilion Clinic’s Breast Care Center, Panera Bread, and Valley View Mall hosted the Panera Positively Pink Parade on September 27th at 8:00 am to benefit the Every Women’s Life Program.
Every Women’s Life (EWL) provides breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to uninsured or underinsured women 50-64 years of age with low incomes. Uninsured Women with low income under the age of 50 may also be eligible for breast and cervical screenings.
The Positively Pink Parade was held in the Valley View Mall’s District in front of Panera Bread. The Parade lapped around the outer loop of the Valley View Mall. Parade participants were encouraged to dress in their craziest pink outfits in celebration of breast cancer awareness. At the end of the parade, Valley View Mall awarded the best dressed participants with prizes donated by mall merchants. Additional prizes were also raffled off to Parade participants. Registration for the Positively Pink parade begins August 18th.
Those who register in advance received an extra opportunity to win raffle prizes. Registration was also available the morning of the Pink Parade beginning at 7:30 am. Registration was five dollars for individuals, and free for children under 18 and women registered with Every Women’s Life. All proceeds went directly to EWL.
In addition, Panera Bread bakery-cafes throughout Roanoke, Christiansburg are offering a special, limited-time-only Pink Ribbon Bagel. For each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold during the month of October, at participating bakery-cafes, Panera Bread will donate .25 cents to the Every Women’s Life Program at Carilion Clinic’s Breast Care Center. “Panera Bread is committed to serving the members of the local community, many of whom have had their lives touched by breast cancer,” said Rick Postle, Panera Bread Franchise owner. “We are honored to support Carilion Clinic’s Breast Care Center.”
